What is Functional Fitness — Catalyst Style?

Functional fitness is training for real life — picking up heavy things, moving better, staying strong, and being hard to break. It’s not bicep curls in a mirror or mindless time on a treadmill. It’s barbells, dumbbells, bodyweight movements, and conditioning that actually carries over into your life.

At Catalyst, our program is built around the basics: squat, hinge, push, pull, carry, run, jump. We load them, move them with intensity, and coach them so you actually improve — not just sweat.

Every class is coached start to finish. You’ll be told how to move, how to scale, and how hard to push. New to this? We scale everything to your level. Been training for years? We’ll still push you to get stronger, cleaner, and faster.

The goal is simple — move well, get strong, and perform like an athlete in and out of the gym.

  • No, but will you add a little muscle? Absolutely. Is that a bad thing? Never.
    With the combination of a healthy/well balanced diet, and our functional fitness program, you will achieve amazing results.

  • We highly recommend you enroll in our fundamentals class. This is a special class focused on teaching newer athletes all the basic movements before we add intensity and speed. This class is also perfect for any athlete that wants to brush up on the basics again.

  • This class is 1 hour long. We will start with a group warm up and stretch, specifically designed to prep the body for the upcoming movements. After our warm up and stretch, we will take 15-20 minutes to focus on a skill or strength. After we finish this portion, we will move into our group workout, with a cool down stretch or foam roll to finish off class.
